GM WorkWell Partnership Year 1 Success!

In its first year, the GM WorkWell Partnership Programme is proud to have supported over 1000 local residents who have been struggling to stay in work due to health-related challenges to start, stay and succeed in work. Greater Manchester’s £7 million WorkWell pilot is a life-changing opportunity for residents facing health barriers to employment. Funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC), Greater Manchester is one of 15 areas selected to pilot the WorkWell service, running until 31st March 2026.

VCSE Data and Intelligence Peer Learning Network – How to Approach Data in Smaller and/or Less Resourced Organisations  

Data doesn’t have to be daunting - regardless of your organisation’s size or resources. Join 10GM for a practical and supportive session designed to help VCSE organisations start or strengthen their data journey. This interactive workshop offers useful tools, real-world insights from Data Orchard, and collaborative spaces to explore what a data strategy could look like for your organisation. Come along to learn, share, and leave with ideas you can put into practice.

Creative Health: UK and Japan in conversation 

Join us at Manchester Museum for a panel discussion on Creative Health. 

How we use arts and creativity to support people’s health and wellbeing – is a fast developing field of work across the UK and Japan. 

During Japan Week 2025, our colleagues, Sawako INANIWA and Takashi KIRIYAMA, from the innovative Art&Wellbeing aa-TOMO programme, Japan will join us, to talk about their practice with colleagues in Greater Manchester, and to identify ways we can collaborate and learn from each other.

Introduction to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) 

This training is for anyone working directly with children and families in Greater Manchester who want to understand more about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. This includes all staff working in early years settings, education, primary care and adoption/fostering services. 

The half-day session offers an introduction to FASD. It aims to adhere to the preferred UK FASD language guide and best practice in FASD training and is CPD accredited. It covers terminology pre and post SIGN 156 Clinical Guidelines and the NICE FASD Quality Standard. The course will contain discussions regarding alcohol in pregnancy, FASD prevalence with discussion re high-risk groups and how FASD can present across the lifespan. It will also look at how to get a diagnosis, associated issues and what can happen without support and mental capacity. Participants will be given information on where to learn more. 

This session will take place via Zoom. A joining link will be sent to you a day in advance of the session.

​Bolton Locality Learning Event - Part of Fairer Health for All

This interactive session is a valuable opportunity to explore how Bolton is tackling health inequalities through local collaboration and community-led approaches.

What to Expect:

  • The Bolton Prevention and Inequalities Framework: Learn how this is being embedded across the locality by a range of partners.
  • Bolton Principles for Community Engagement: Discover how these co-produced principles were developed with communities, how they’re being used, and the role they play in reducing inequalities.
  • Discussion and Peer Learning: Share experiences and reflect on how these approaches could apply to your own work in Greater Manchester.

Who should attend?

Anyone working or volunteering within Greater Manchester's health and care system—including public health, health improvement, community or voluntary sector roles—who is involved in addressing health inequalities.

This is a great opportunity to learn from Bolton’s approaches and consider how they can inform and enhance your own practice.

Workshop: Including the Voice of Lived Experience in Policy Making 

We’re excited to invite public sector colleagues across Greater Manchester to a two-hour, interactive workshop focused on how to meaningfully include the voice of lived experience in your work. 

This workshop will explore key principles for inclusive engagement, including:

  • Sharing power and decision-making

  • Valuing lived and learned experience equally

  • Providing inclusive and respectful remuneration

  • Involving people early and throughout the process

  • Offering practical support and ensuring accessibility

What to Expect:
The session will combine interactive discussions, individual reflection, group exercises, and opportunities to share best practice and ask questions. It is based on the Greater Manchester Equality Alliance (GM=EqAl) resource on hearing the voice of lived experience in policymaking, which provides both guiding principles and practical tools.

We are committed to tackling inequalities of power, resource, health, and opportunity. By embedding these principles in your work, you’ll help ensure policies are shaped by and for the communities they serve.

Health Inequalities Spotlight Webinar

The Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance Health Inequalities Spotlight Webinar will showcase two impactful screening projects: Bee Seen, Get Screened, which supports employers to enable staff to attend life-saving NHS cancer screening and tackle health inequalities across the workforce, and Improving Cervical Screening Accessibility, a co-produced initiative creating accessible, culturally sensitive resources to increase screening uptake among autistic people and individuals with learning disabilities. The session highlights how partnership, co-production, and inclusive practice are driving more equitable access to cancer screening and care.

Greater Manchester Primary Care Summit 2025 

Primary Care in Partnership: Celebrating 10 Years and Shaping the Future

Organised by the Greater Manchester Primary Care Provider Board (PCB), the partnership of primary care providers across community pharmacy, dentistry, general practice, and optometry.

Since its formation in 2015, the PCB has become the most established primary care collaborative in the country. This face-to-face event will celebrate ten years of partnership achievements and look ahead to shaping the future of primary care.

The event will:

  • Celebrate key milestones from the past decade

  • Explore the NHS Long Term Plan and its implications for all four primary care disciplines

  • Highlight the future vision for collaboration and the ongoing work of the PCB

VSNW Conference and AGM 2025: 'From Uncertainty to Strength – Building Capacity & Resilience in Our Sector' 

In 2025, the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector faces increasing challenges. With welfare budget cuts, economic pressures, and rising demand for services, many organisations are being asked to do more with less. 

This year’s VSNW Conference and AGM will focus on a vital question: How do we move from uncertainty to strength? Together, we will explore ways to build internal capacity, strengthen collaborative partnerships, and continue leading the future of public service delivery across the North West. 

The day will feature keynote speeches, breakout workshops for discussion, and valuable networking opportunities. 

Refreshments and lunch will be provided. The event is free to attend and is aimed at VCFSE leaders who are members, associates, or partners of VSNW. If you’re not yet a member, this is an excellent opportunity to join and connect with peers across the region.
