Learning & Training Opportunities

Learning and Training Opportunities
Whether you are new to public health or keen to develop within the public health workforce, there are a number of possible learning and career development opportunities available.

Core Public Health Workforce

The core public health workforce includes professionals who have specialised training and qualifications in public health. They typically hold formal public health related qualifications and/or professional registration and are employed in specific public health roles.

It is estimated that around 40,000 people work in core public health roles, working within Local Authority and NHS.

Wider Public Health Workforce

We refer to people who contribute to public health in some way through their actions (even if they do not realise it) as the 'wider public health workforce’.

If you do not already work in a public health role, there are learning and development opportunities available to enhance your public health knowledge and skills so you can impact on the health and wellbeing of others.
