GM WorkWell Partnership Year 1 Success!
In its first year, the GM WorkWell Partnership Programme is proud to have supported over 1000 local residents who have been struggling to stay in work due to health-related challenges to start, stay and succeed in work. Greater Manchester’s £7 million WorkWell pilot is a life-changing opportunity for residents facing health barriers to employment. Funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC), Greater Manchester is one of 15 areas selected to pilot the WorkWell service, running until 31st March 2026.#

8th NHS Virtual Wards Summit: Embracing Hospitals at Home
The 8th NHS Virtual Wards Summit will be held on 17th June 2025 at etc.venues Manchester. This conference highlights the growing impact of remote monitoring, UEC collaboration, and system-wide virtual care pathways.
As hospitals face capacity pressures, virtual care has become a permanent and necessary component of NHS delivery. This summit offers the tools and insight to embed virtual wards effectively across care settings.

An Introduction to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
Free and highly evaluated online training delivered by UK leading expert and specialist trainer Joanna Buckard. This training is for anyone working directly with children and families in Greater Manchester who want to understand more about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. This includes all staff working in early years settings, primary care and adoption/ fostering services. The half-day session offers an introduction to FASD. It aims to adhere to the preferred UK FASD language guide and best practice in FASD training and is CPD accredited. It covers terminology pre and post the SIGN 156 Clinical Guideline and NICE FASD Quality standard. The course will contain discussions regarding alcohol in pregnancy, current prevalence, with discussion regarding high-risk groups and how FASD can present across the lifespan. It will also look at how to get a diagnosis, associated issues, what can happen without support and mental capacity. Participants will be given information on where to learn more. This session will take place via Zoom. A joining link will be sent to you a day in advance of the session.

Healthier Futures Innovation Lab
On Thursday 26th July, 12 noon-17:30pm, the Healthier futures research platform will be hosting an Innovation Lab to explore partners' research challenges in relation to helath inequalities - the unfair, avoidable difference in health between different groups in society - and the determinants of these inequalities.
The event will bring together 3-5 organisations who are seeking to overcome a specific challenge or to develop innovative products and service. the University of Manchester will curate individual groups of academic experts from a range of complementary disciplines to respond to each challenge within a workshop.

Open Lecture: Childhood determinants and prevention of violence
This lecture will be of interest to everyone who is working to understand the origins and consequences of violence, and importantly its prevention, no matter what disciplinary or theoretical background they come from.
We welcome Professor Joe Murray, Director of the Human Development and Violence Research Centre,Federal University of Pelotas, Brazil. Professor Murray previously worked and studied at the University of Cambridge, in departments of criminology and psychiatry, before moving to Brazil and working on the Pelotas birth cohort studies since 2010. His research aims to understand how bio-psycho-social factors influence psychosocial development and violence through the life-course, and the impact of preventive interventions. He co-directs the 2015 Pelotas Birth Cohort Study. He received the Manuel Lopez-Rey prize, and the Nigel Walker prize in criminology from the University of Cambridge, and the Distinguished New Scholar Award from the American Society of Criminology Division of Corrections and Sentencing.’

Health literacy is about having the skills, knowledge and confidence to access, understand and navigate health and social care information and services. Although not a phrase commonly used in family hub settings, a lot of the activities taking place within family hubs does improve health literacy.
The webinar will showcase some excellent examples and provide inspiration on how to implement health literacy within your organisation.
