GM WorkWell Partnership Year 1 Success!

In its first year, the GM WorkWell Partnership Programme is proud to have supported over 1000 local residents who have been struggling to stay in work due to health-related challenges to start, stay and succeed in work. Greater Manchester’s £7 million WorkWell pilot is a life-changing opportunity for residents facing health barriers to employment. Funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC), Greater Manchester is one of 15 areas selected to pilot the WorkWell service, running until 31st March 2026.#

NHS GM: Leadership for Inclusion Event on Anti-Racism 

Join the NHS GM: Leadership for Inclusion virtual event on Anti-Racism, Wednesday 21 May 2025. Hosted by NHS GM's Equality and Inclusion team, this session will explore how anti-racist leadership can drive equity, inclusion, and systemic change across the workforce and communities. It will focus on practical strategies for challenging bias, supporting racially minoritised staff, and embedding the Anti-Racism Framework into everyday leadership. Northern Greener NHS Week Online, 2nd – 6th June, Booking Open Now

Join us for the Northern NHS England Greener Week — an online celebration of the innovative and impactful work happening across the North of England to support a Greener NHS and achieve our collective ambition of reaching Net Zero by 2040.

Northern Greener Week is a collaborative event led by NHS England North West and North East & Yorkshire, in partnership with regional Nursing and Midwifery Team.

Taking place online from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th June, the week will spotlight the projects, partnerships and people leading the way in embedding sustainability and climate resilience across healthcare.

All events will be held online and are open to all NHS staff. Each session will be bite-sized (45 minutes) and recorded, so you can attend live or catch up at a time that suits you.

We are hosting an NHS Anchors Workshop to share updates, discuss priorities, and strengthen our collective work across Greater Manchester. The session will cover: 

  • Updates on key Anchor-related workstreams within GM 
  • New national social value policies 
  • Discussion of Anchor priorities for 2025/26 and beyond 
  • Relevant case study sharing 
  • Examination of local policy drivers to ensure Anchors work remains a key focus

Towards Relational Public Services Conference 2025 

This conference brings together service users, professionals, and academics to explore how public services can better address complex social challenges through relational, human-centred approaches. As traditional models of top-down policymaking and performance-driven management prove insufficient, the event will examine how meaningful engagement, systems thinking, and learning can foster genuine social change and improved societal outcomes. A social evening will be held on Wednesday 4th June at HOME, and a concessionary rate of £135 is available for PhD students and voluntary sector participants - contact Rob Wilson (rob.wilson@mmu.ac.uk) for a discount code.

An Introduction to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) 

Free and highly evaluated online training delivered by UK leading expert and specialist trainer Joanna Buckard. This training is for anyone working directly with children and families in Greater Manchester who want to understand more about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. This includes all staff working in early years settings, primary care and adoption/ fostering services. The half-day session offers an introduction to FASD. It aims to adhere to the preferred UK FASD language guide and best practice in FASD training and is CPD accredited. It covers terminology pre and post the SIGN 156 Clinical Guideline and NICE FASD Quality standard. The course will contain discussions regarding alcohol in pregnancy, current prevalence, with discussion regarding high-risk groups and how FASD can present across the lifespan. It will also look at how to get a diagnosis, associated issues, what can happen without support and mental capacity. Participants will be given information on where to learn more. This session will take place via Zoom. A joining link will be sent to you a day in advance of the session

Maternal Alcohol Resources & Information Research Showcase 

The showcase will include: 

• Presentations from the research team and software developer 

• Q&A panels with coproduction members 

• Interactive demonstrations and wellbeing activities 

• Discussions on how MARI will enable positive health and wellbeing for women and a better start for children.

NHS IMPACT Lunch & Learn: Inequalities and improvement - high intensity use of emergency departments  

Join Professor Amar Shah, National Clinical Director, and Kate Griffiths from the British Red Cross for an interactive session focused on tackling inequalities and the high intensity use of emergency departments. Open to anyone working in the NHS, this event will include a group discussion and aims to empower participants to learn and share improvement strategies. Further information on this topic is available on the British Red Cross website.
